Red Devils make £12 million bid for left back

A report has emerged that Manchester United have made a £12 million pound bid for Patrice Evra's replacement.

Everton are thought to be the receivers of the bid, in exchange for their left back, Leighton Baines. Having shipped off Tim Cahill to the States for an unbelievably low price, Everton Manager, David Moyes, might welcome the cash which would improve his usual transfer funds of £25.50.

Moyes has worked wonders on such a tight budget but he has never stood in the way of his star performers wanting to leave Goodison Park. Recently, Arteta, Saha and Pienaar have been allowed to leave for pastures anew. Some, like Pienaar come running back to him like a student to a mother after finding the real world too hard.

Let's make no bones about the fact that Evra is under the illusion he is more important than he really is. His arrogance is something that I can not comprehend. Baines would be a better and much more potent option for United who look set to replace the Frenchman. Has Fergie finally seen the light?

Although Evra has been a decent servant to the Red Devils, his attitude leaves a lot to be desired. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory over the Suarez affair last season but his performances for France have been pretty much poor of late. He is no where near being the best left back in the world so why he struts around thinking he is, is anyone's guess.

Apart form Rooney however, I am struggling to think of Moyes managing to get a good price for one of his players. £12 million for Baines could prove quite a steal. But will Everton accept the bid? They shouldn't but then who knows?

If Baines can be brought for under £15 million it would be a good piece of business – for club that buys him.
