    Transfer coup for BT?

For football fans up and down the country Match of The Day has been a Saturday (and Sunday) night is a must. But is a change in sight? With transfer gossip starting to gather pace, prehaps the most significant move could take place off the pitch.

Yes, be in sitting in front of the TV with a beer in one hand and snack in the other or just getting in from the pub or even letting your kids stay up to watch MOFD, the programme has become unmissable for fans of the big round ball.

One of the reasons for the immense popularity is ex Spurs and Leicester striker Gary Lineker, who has become the ears, er, I mean face, of the show for the past decade and a bit.

The former goal king was a somewhat surprise choice to replace previous host Des Lynam in 1999. You could say the BBC took a gamble but it worked. Lineker has grown into a entertaining front man. Much more likeable that that Chiles fella who seems much more interested in trying to be funny than football. Notice the 'trying'.

However rumours have been doing the rounds of the BBC offices that main man and former England striker Gary Lineker may be about to jump ship to present BT Vision’s coverage of Premier League matches.

BT have secured the rights to 32 games per Premier League season for the next 3 years and have received “expressions of interest” from a number of names, including BBC Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker, to present a forthcoming sports channel.

What exactly is 'expressions of interest'? I show expressions of interest in the female of the species on a regular basis without success but can you really see this venture as a attractive proposition for someone of the calibre of Lineker? Well, apparently. It could well be.
