Swansea brush away Allen talk

One of the many predictable routines in football is the movement of a successful manager to a club with more resources, then, after adding 2 and 2 together, for one of his most celebrated players at his old club tipped to follow the manager in the move to the new club.
Still following? Well, here it is happening in the case of now Liverpoolboss Brendan Rodgers' attempts to take midfielder Joe Allen, an integral member of Rodgers' refreshingly talented Swansea side that earned an eleventh place finish in their debut Premier League year, with him to Merseyside.
The Daily Mail have announced that Rodgers is to turn up the valve on his interest in Allen to the higher rates with the Welsh club apparently willing to listen to "reasonable" offers due to their financial future.
Goal.com have also stated that Rodgers will move on Allen once the finer details of a move for Roma forward Fabio Borini is completed, but will be expected to stretch to £10 million in order to bring the 22 year old midfielder to Anfield.
Welshman Allen made 36 appearances in Swansea's slick footballing side under Rodgers last season and earned himself a place in the Team GB Olympic football squad.
Reaction at Swansea to a suggested move has been one of indifference as WalesOnline say that interest in the player has been brushed off by senior officials at the Liberty Stadium, whilst Michael Laudrup preferred instead to talk about his own new signings, Chico Flores and Jonathon De Guzman.
Laudrup sees the two new additions as important to his desire to continue the aesthetically pleasing football-philosophy which Swansea have picked up a reputation for. Whether Allen remains to be a part of that will be a matter for the future.
