    Agent Hughton: keep Holt.

Newly-appointed manager Chris Hugton has a mission as Norwich City boss, well quite a few actually, and he has chosen to accept them. His first, however dangerous it might be, will be to try and persuade want-away striker Grant Holt at Carrow Road and intercept any potential suitors that may be in the queue for him.

In a press conference that unveiled former Birmingham City and Newcastle boss Hughton as successor to Paul Lambert, Sky Sports reported the new coach as saying he would like to keep Holt who handed in a surprise transfer request, then had it subsequently rejected by the club back in May. West Ham have shown an interest in the striker.

Holt spoke of his admiration for Holt, calling him a "quality striker" and his determination to keep hold of the 31 year old is understandable considering the hearty role he played in keeping the Canaries tweeting in the Premier League last term by scoring 15 goals.

Hughton hasn't had chance to boil the kettle yet at Carrow Road, but said that speaking to his cherished striker, who has hogged the past three Norwich Player of the Year awards, is high on the to-do list.

Whilst a priority remains sorting out the future of his best striker, the Irish manager was quizzed about the potential budget he would receive to improve the playing squad down in East Anglia.

Calmly batting away those questions, as reported by Sky Sports, he said that there will be considerably more conversations to sort those details out once he has settled in at his new surroundings.

Should any of the Norwich coaching staff perish however, the secretary will disavow any of Hughton's actions. This page will self-destruct in five minutes.
