    Sigurdsson Kops Anfield interest

Usually when a manager moves from one club to another, a whole host of his trusted subjects follow him.

And whilst Swansea City have secured an agreement that means Liverpool won't poach any of their current stars, nothing has been said about someone who is on verge of joining the Swans, but is yet to put pen to paper.

Indeed, in a surprising turn of events, Brendan Rodgers is ready to bring Gylfi Sigurdsson to Anfield from under the noses of his former club according to Sky Sports.

Sigurdsson who impressed during a loan spell at the Liberty Stadium last year is set to negotiate with the South Wales side, something that his former manager respects.

However, he has warned that if the Icelandic international becomes available then he won't hesitate to bring him to Merseyside.

The 22 year old flourished under the watchful eye of the Northern Irishman, and speaking on the subject, Rodgers said: 'If he [Sigurdsson] comes onto the market, I have to be interested.

'His initial chat has to be with Swansea, because he had a good period there.

'I said when I had the chat with the chairman (Huw Jenkins) the other day, when I told him I was going to go to Liverpool, that Gylfi came to Swansea because I was there as manager.

'I said to Huw if I speak to the kid I'll tell him to make sure he certainly comes down and speaks to the new (Swansea) manager, whoever that is, and that if he's still not comfortable with that, he's in the marketplace then - and then I have to look at him.'
