Napoli target Chelsea midfielder

They say that travel broadens the mind and if that is indeed the case and a rumour in today’s Daily Mirror is correct then Raul Meireles will have the broadest mind in football.
The report in the Daily Mirror states that the Portuguese midfielder is the target of Italian club Napoli which would make it that Meireles has moved clubs three times in three summers after moving from Porto to Liverpool in 2010 and then from Anfield to Chelsea in 2011.
The 29-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at Stamford Bridge in his debut season at the club but was important in the club’s Champions League victory.
Napoli are thought to be willing to pay £8m for the player after their coffers were boosted by the sale of Ezequiel Lavezzi to Paris Saint-Germain and the Italian club are thought to be keen to boost the engine room of their midfield.
The Mirror reports that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has enquired about the midfielder’s identity to his agent and wants to make the move happen but Meireles is focusing on Portugal’s Euro 2012 campaign for the time being.
Meireles said: “I am focused on the Euros and cannot think about my future now.”
