Robben going nowhere as he signs new deal

With rumours linking the tricky Dutch winger Arjen Robben away from Bayern Munich, emerging on the basis that he was not happy or was even involved in a fight with Franck Ribery during a match, the player has thrown any doubts over his future through the window by signing a new two-year deal to keep him in Bavaria.
After his master-class at Wembley in a match with England in early April, Robben told the Sunday Mirror that he would be considering his options this summer and was open to a move back to the Premier League.
But any possibility has been stumped out as Bayern’s club website announced Robben had signed a new extension to his deal, keeping him with the Champion’s League finalists until 2015.
News will be of great relief to Jupp Heynckes and the German club who had to contend with reports from German newspaper Sports Bild that Robben and Franck Ribery had a little fall-out during their Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid.
According to the Guardian, club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had no such doubts over Robben’s future and was adamant, in true Mystic Meg style, that the Dutch speed-merchant would remain at the Allianz Arena.
His earlier interview with the Sunday Mirror summoned interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal according to the Daily Mail. They will have to now look elsewhere for a winger as the 28 year old Robben says he is perfectly happy in Germany and won’t be leaving until at least 2015.
That is, unless the Mayan calendar, rings true in December.
The Dutchman, about to embark on a promising summer in the European Championships with the Netherlands, effused about Munich life to the club’s official website, saying his family were settled and the extension was the only way to go.
