Jenkins aims to keep Rodgers at Swans

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins is adamant highly sought after manager Brendan Rodgers will not move onto pastures new without a fight this summer after winning many admirers this term by propelling Swansea up the Premier League table to 11th place during their first season in the top flight.

The Northern Irishman has been linked with many other top flight clubs throughout the season even bigger clubs such as Spurs if Harry Redknapp leaves White Hart Lane for the vacant England job in the summer.

Swansea have been arguably the surprise package of the season and have many fans by the pass and move style of play they adopt, this in turn has led to Rodgers being touted by many as a leading candidate for the manager of the season award along with Newcastle’s Alan Pardew who looks set to lead the Tyneside club into Europe

Although the season isn’t over yet Jenkins has insisted the club will do everything in their power to ensure their manager remains with the club for their second season in the Premier League.

"Brendan's done really well coming into the Premier League and the way football is there could be three, four, five jobs coming up in the summer and you never know," Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post.

"Obviously things like that are going to be touted about, but we'll do all we can to make sure Brendan stays with us.

"We also fully appreciate some of these clubs are going to be looking for managers and perhaps - hopefully not now, but in the future - Brendan may think the time will be right to move to a club in the Champions League.

"But I think that's a while off yet - let's concentrate on what he does for us over the next few years."
