Robinson on many radars

If you go down to Pride Park on matchdays and don’t look particularly hard, you might well see a long , snaking queue of people with notebooks, mobile phones and eyes darting from side to side. They’re not sports journalists but a whole host of club scouts if this story from Sky Sports is to be believed.
And what all of these people are doing (apart from taking advantage of the free hot drinks on offer, possibly) is trying to justify a reason for their employers to make a bid for Derby’s Theo Robinson before anyone else in this group of people comes up with a similar ploy.
According to Sky Sports, a host of Premier League clubs are keeping an eye on the 23-year-old striker (none of which are named, helpfully) but, thankfully, there are also some named Championship clubs interested in the player.
These clubs are Birmingham, Blackpool, Leicester and Leeds who Sky Sports believe are also prepared to participate in an Anchorman –style mass brawl over Robinson’s services which, sadly, will most likely be duked out in an decidedly un-Anchorman-style of paperwork and negotiation.
The striker joined Derby from Milwall on a permanent deal last summer after a loan deal at the club and has since banged in 11 goals in 37 games for the Rams.
His manager Nigel Clough has praised him for his performances and his habit of popping up and scoring goals in important games and would be a key part in the rebuilding project at Pride Park which has been going on since around 2003 in various guises.
