Blues to move for Valencia shot-stopper

Chelsea are ready to bring in Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves as back-up to Peter Cech after the Brazil international feels a number of promises weren’t kept by the Los Che hierarchy.

The 26-year-old only joined the Primera Liga giants from Almeria in the summer, but is attracting interest from a number of Europe’s big-hitters after a series of assured displays when called-upon.

Current incumbent Cech has seen his performances slip in recent months leading to speculation that Andre Villas-Boas is ready to release the former Rennes shot-stopper.

And with Thibaut Courtois still learning his trade with Atletico Madrid, a move for Alves may be on the cards especially with the Portuguese tactician unwilling to call-upon Ross Turnbull.

Valencia may be unwilling to part with Alves at the end of the season unless a suitable replacement is found before selling.

However, it is believed a bid of around £4m will be enough for the Spanish giants to part with twice capped Brazilian.
