      Saints hoping to keep winger

Promotion candidates Southampton are hoping to convince Tottenham Hotspur to part ways with on-loan winger Yago Falque at the end of the season.

The young Spaniard moved to St. Mary’s in January for the remainder of the campaign after the North Londoners opted to make his loan move a permanent one.

And despite making just one league appearance since his move, the Championship league leaders are hoping that Spurs would be willing to sell in the summer.

The former Barcelona trainee has only made a handful of appearances under Harry Redknapp, with the veteran tactician opting to use the 21-year-old in the Europa League.

Despite their early exit from the competition, the Spurs coaching staff felt he had done enough to warrant a permanent deal before being sent to the south coast giants until May.

Falque is held in high esteem by the management team at White Hart Lane, but with reports linking them with a move for Lille star Eden Hazard, Saints will be hoping to keep him with the club, especially if they achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
