Hughes again for Blackburn? Beware the Venkys

Blackburn Rovers’ finger-lickin’ good owners have again activated the ejector seat in the dugout at Ewood Park as Henning Berg has been sacked. They have said that they want a new manager in place by the start of the New Year and the Metro is reporting that they are lining up former Blackburn manager Mark Hughes.
Mark Hughes is currently without a club and has been “resting” since he was fired by Queens Park Rangers in November. He managed Blackburn Rovers from 2004 to 2008 before moving on and just down the road to Manchester City. He put together a strong Blackburn side and whilst not winning any silverware he saved the team from relegation, almost made it the League and FA Cup finals and, most notably, took the team into Europe.
The most important question, should the Venkys decide that Hughes is their man (for now), is whether Hughes, or anyone else for that matter, wants to take the job. The fans can hardly be described as welcoming (although I’m sure many are), the club are in a perilous 17th place in a difficult league and the Venkys seem to be trigger-happy and hardly the most understanding of owners. Whoever takes over should make their first job removing the spring underneath the dugout.
