    Chelsea to swoop for Assou-Ekotto?

Chelsea are considering a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto.  The Mirror has reported that Chelsea are looking to take the 28-year-old Cameroonian for a fee of £5 million.  Assou-Ekotto was in fine form for Tottenham last season but has struggled for fitness this season because of an ongoing knee problem and has hardly featured for Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

Ashley Cole is due to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of this season when his contract runs out and with Ryan Bertrand the only other left-back on the club’s books they will need someone else.  Spurs may well allow Assou-Ekotto to leave as the club have more options; Kyle Naughton is continually improving and Jan Vertonghen can also play full back and has been doing very well there this season.

Assou-Ekotto started his career in France with RC Lens, signing for the club when he was ten, and moved to Tottenham in 2006.  He quickly established himself as the club’s first choice left-back until he got injured and subsequently fell rapidly out of favour, featuring only once in the league the following season.  Since regaining fitness he has regained his place and has been an almost ever present until his recent injury.

"LOOKING to take" excuse me but he will only go if Tottenham decide so, Chelsea are not Real Madrid and will never be considered a bigger than Spurs so so off with your stupid suggestions.
