Frank Lampard's wonderful wealth of options

It probably says something for the standing of Frank Lampard that he has had reportedly so much interest in his services from clubs that aren't based in semi-retirement leagues in China, Australia or the USA, but from 'real' clubs that play competitive football.

In today's papers Lampard has been linked with a move to a Premier League club and a Serie A outfit.

Let's start with the Premier League club.

In a move that would probably double the average age of his signings, Arsene Wenger is lining up a move for the veteran Chelsea midfielder according to the Sunday Mirror.

The paper reports that Wenger is keen to bolster his midfield with some experience to augment the likes of Jack Wilshire and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lampard, who is in the final year of his deal at Chelsea and thought to be surplus to requirements come the end of the season, has been identified as that man.

The paper adds that Wenger is convinced that his fitness techniques can keep Lampard's career going and the 34-year-old's natural fitness and dedication will aid this and it is just a question of whether to make a January bid or wait until the midfielder is available on a free in June.

Meanwhile, the Metro reports that Serie A club Juventus will offer Lampard an alternative move as, as everyone knows, footballers tend to play to an older age in Italy.

The paper adds interest in Lampard remains from Manchester United, LA Galaxy, the New York Red Bulls, but Juve are currently the front runners.
