Serie A star set to extend contract

Sky Sports have announced that AC Milan talent Stephan El Shaarawy is being offered a new contract to keep the European vultures away from him.
The 20-year old has been a rare stand-out player for the Italian side this campaign, not because of his dodgy hair, simply because he is one of the few Rossoneri players to show a bit of effort.
The attention that comes with playing for the first team of an Italian giant and also breaking into the national side is obviously huge, and an array of clubs have set their sights on the part-Egyptian, part-sensation.
El Shaarawy already has a 5-year contract shackling him to the San Siro but the club still don’t feel confident, so will offer an extra year on top.
Is this what football has come to, tying players to 6-year contracts in order for them not to be lured into a big money move?
