Young Dutchman could be on Blues' radar

Clearly, the manager simply doesn't mean anything at Chelsea anymore.

After dispensing with the services of Roberto Di Matteo last week and replacing him with fans'...err...."favourite" Rafa Benitez, Roman Abramovich looks set to continue his crusade to evolve Chelsea from the robotic force that won the Champions League into his fabled "Barcelona in Blue shirts".

The Metro are today reporting that 20-year-old Feyenoord captain Stefan de Vrij has emerged as a potential target for the European champions. With the Chelsea hierarchy searching for a long-term replacement for John Terry (and not before time) and after their attempt to solve that problem with "Playstation" defender David Luiz hardly set the pulses racing in anything other that coronary heart attacks at Stamford Bridge, de Vrij could become the next target.

The young Dutchman already appears to have all the hallmarks of a modern day footballer. Having been given his debut by Feyenoord at the age of just 17 and handed the captain's armband following the departure of Ron Vlaar to Aston Villa this summer, di Vrij has refused to commit his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract, which currently expires in just under two years time.

Let's hope he doesn't change into the next Jeffrey Bruma!
