Zaha told to put dream United move on hold

In football, the English premium is the extra price that British clubs spend to buy up English talent. For example, the English premium Liverpool paid to bring in Stewart Downing for £20million was around £19million. A similar fee was used when they bought Jordan Henderson.

    Anyway, enough Dalglish baiting.

One player who definitely has an English premium on his asking price is one Wilfred Zaha at Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a stellar start to the season, capping it all off with an England debut earlier in the month.

However, Zaha has been told to put his dreams of a £20million move to Manchester United on hold for the time being.

The Sunday Mirror reports that Palace want to use Zaha as a spearhead for their Premier League push and Palace chiefs have told gaffer Ian Holloway not to worry about selling him in January.

Zaha reportedly responded well to the news and is keen to knuckle down and help the Eagles to return to the top flight.

The paper reports that Arsenal and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, Manchester City are ready to jump in, but United remain favourites for the winger's signature.
