Arsenal in for the 'new Bendtner'

Everybody wants to be the known as the 'the new Messi' or the 'new Ronaldo', but I'd wager there are not as many people who would like to be known as the 'new Nicklas Bendtner'.

Well, that's the label that FC Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius has been given which, depending on your perspective, is either damning with faint praise or just plain damning.

According to the Metro, Arsenal and AC Milan, both clubs who one would have thought should know better than going in for any player even remotely attached to the name 'Bendtner' are now in for Cornelius.

The paper reports that he has got the eye of Milan after notching 10 goals in 19 games so far this season and picking up 2 caps for Denmark too.

Milan are so impressed they intend to put in a £3million bid for the 19-year-old in January to test FC Copenhagen's resolve.

However, Arsenal have been tipped off by their Scandavian scout Bobby Bennett who picked out Bendtner in2004 (insert your own joke about knowing better here). For what it's worth, Bennett is said to think even more highly of Cornelius than he did Bendtner.

Cornelius, weighing in at 6 foot 4 inches tall, is seen as more of a target man than Bendtner is but that goal record doesn't really lie either.

The paper adds that FC Copenhagen are not keen on parting with the striker, but may be open to deal where Cornelius stays on loan at the Danish outfit until the end of the season.
