Villas-Boas set to be given £20m warchest

There are three things Andre Villas-Boas likes; his Babylis for men stubble razor, a high defensive line and, like all other managers, having a large transfer 'warchest' to spend on players.

Luckily for Mr Villas-Boas, The Daily Star are reporting that one of these things could be on the way to him. Can you guess which one it is?

Nope, you're wrong, it's the transfer kitty.

The paper are reporting that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to hand the Portuguese manager £20million to spend in January to reignite the club's push for the Champions League places which has faltered in recent weeks after the White Hart Lane outfit have stumbled to five defeats in their last six domestic games.

The paper adds that Villas-Boas is looking to sign a new left-back, a central midfielder and a striker with names such as Porto's Joao Moutinho, CSKA Moscow's Euro 2012 star Alan Dzagoev and Roma's Miralem Pjanic all on the shortlist of names.

All of which, you'll notice, were summer targets of Spurs so its good to see they've moved on.

The Daily Star also states that the £20 million may not be enough so Villas-Boas may need to sell on players to fund the moves with Michael Dawson, Heurelho Gomes, Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley all out of favour.
