They think it's Coyle over...it is now

Bolton have sacked Owen Coyle as their manager after a disastrous start to the season which sees the club lie at 18th in the Championship table.

Bolton were relegated from the Premier League last season and their start to life in the nPower Championship has been terrible. Coyle's move to the Bolton was controversial as he left Burnley, whom he had helped successfully gain promotion the top flight with, only to leave for Bolton infutiating the Burnley faithful.

Coyle also enjoyed a spell as a player for Bolton but the club have taken the decision to cut ties with the Scotsman. Mick McCarthy is favourite to replace Coyle with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer also being considered by the bookies.

Academy manager Jimmy Phillips will handle the first team ahead of Bolton's game against Bristol City on Saturday.
