    Shearer of the Rovers

Former Blackburn legend and current Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has been comfirmed as a contender for the vacant manager's position at Blackburn.

Shearer confirmed on Saturday that if he was approached by the club he would welcome the talks and Blackburn manager directior, Derek Shaw, insisst they have had 20 'good' applications for the role. The Lanchashire club were relegated from the Premier League last season and previous manager Steve Kean, who was always unpopular with fans, was, inevitably, fired last week.

Other big names linked with the job include former Manchester United players Roy Keane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well as former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster.
