Stoke ready to finance left-back charge

Away from the sense of irony that suddenly it is Stoke reeling from a broken leg injury to one of their players, Tony Pulis will be pleased to hear from Sky Sports that chairman Peter Coates is ready to enter the transfer market in their search for a replacement for the crocked Marc Wilson.

Potters fans will be hoping that Pulis makes the right decision, considering his inability to solve what has become a problem position ever since their arrival in the Premier League back in 2008. Certainly, one of his last ideas was to play Matthew Upson, a man who toiled for pace at centre-back, against the likes of Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and Theo Walcott in the position, which allied with Jonathan Woodgate on the other side provided much comedic value for all football supporters.

      Concentrate now, Tony!
