      Adding Cole to the fire

CalcioMercato have reported that AC Milan will make a bid for Ashley Cole in the January transfer window.

The move may well represent an attractive prospect to Cole. The 31 year old is approaching the end of his career and it's possible Chelsea will be less inclined to offer him a big contract.

It’s very unlikely he’ll be tempted by other English clubs. Ashley Cole is not a name which resonantes well around the terraces of the Premier League's top clubs and it's doubtful Cole will fancy the same treatment he received after his high-profile move from Arsenal to Chelsea.

Regardless of Milan’s poor league form this season, the Rosseneri will be able to offer Cole a long and lucrative deal to see out his career with. Thanks to Chelsea’s Champions League triumph last year, Cole has now won every major trophy during his seven seasons at Stamford Bridge, and may feel like now is a good time to go.

Perhaps more appealing than anything, a move to Italy would escape Cole from the intense media scrutiny which tends to await him around every corner.
