A Galaxy not too far away

The MLS has been running for over a decade now and English clubs are finally starting to make the most out of the American league's calender structure.

It has taken a while to catch on but some of the Premier League's top sides have realised that they can obtain a top quality proffesional for the second half of a season with no additional transfer fee to pay.

Everton set the ball rolling with Landon Donavan, Arsenal have now obtained some Frenchman called Henry and Villa look to be getting in on the action with the addition of Robbie Keane.

It is usually in this month that teams pay over the odds for a player in the hope that he will take them onto the next level, but on the majority of occasions it doesn't work out.

This is why an MLS loan seems to most logical alternative, both fianancially and logically. The wages are the only economic setback, the player is already match fit and if it doesn't work out then he can get the next plane back to the US of A.

This then may help a side get out of their relegation predicament, or maybe give them the edge in the race for Europe, and when it comes to the end of the season they are then able to re-evaluate and spend their transfer money more wisely.

An MLS january loan seems the perfect option for Premier League sides.
