    Blues look at Gomes

Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in Portuguese midfielder Vitor Gomes.

The 23 year-old is a defensive midfielder who can also fill in at right-back, and currently plays for Rio Ave in Portugal's top division.

Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas has a good knowledge of the Portugeuse leagues having managed Porto up until this summer, and according to tabloid reports, has supposedly ordered scouts to start watching Gomes on a regular basis.

It is well documented that Villas-Boas is looking to strengthen at both full-back and in midfield, with John Obi Mikel Chelsea's only experienced holding midfielder in the absense of the injured Michael Essien.

At right-back, Jose Bosingwa has featured most this season, but it is thought the Londoners are hoping to bring in extra competition.

Should AVB be looking for a more recognised player, or do Chelsea fans trust their manager's judgement?
