Colombia Star Linked With Manchester United - Where He Would Fit In

While every newspaper, website and journalist reports the news of players coming into clubs, very rarely do you get a piece which says where these players will actually fit in. I remember seeing one publication try to put Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Edinson Cavani, Adnan Januzaj, Antonio Valencia and Juan Mata into one side. Sometimes it makes you wonder if it is possible.

This is very true of the story linking James Rodriguez to Manchester United, which Talksport have reported. Rodriguez is having a brilliant World Cup and is thriving in the Colombia team, providing assist after assist. The problem that I see with this move, though, is that Louis van Gaal would have to try and fit Wayne Rooney, James Rodriguez, Adnan Januzaj and Juan Mata into one or two positions. Any manager in the world would struggle to keep them all happy and playing every week.

However, Rodriguez is a player that you sign to stop others from getting him, or so it seems. He is an excellent player; young, versatile and creative. As a manager, you know that he will add another level to any attack in the world and you don't want that to happen unless it is for your team. However, you also know that you are brimming with talent already and can't fit him in. Yet you pursue him like you can.

It is a confusing situation and it will take a real expert to decipher it. All I can say is that if United do sign the Colombian then he will have to start because he is that good.  Most significantly, he is arguably better than what the Red Devils already have.

Leave the tactical stuff to LVG and just go about reporting what you see. Sorry fella, but you and 99% of those writing this stuff are either stating the obvious or so far off base it is painful to read.
