Liverpool Closing In On £16m Spain Reject - Player Report

Liverpool struggled with their defence last season and it ultimately cost them the Premier League title. Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling kept their end of the bargain, but the backline fell flat on a large number of occasions. The left-back was a particular problem for Brendan Rodgers, but reports say that the Reds are on the brink of securing a deal for Sevilla's Alberto Moreno.

The left-back failed to make the Spain squad for the World Cup, but the rejection could prove a good thing for Liverpool who are looking to get the deal done.

The 21-year-old played 29 La Liga games in the season just gone and made 73 interceptions. He also made 52 tackles, 44 clearances and scored three goals.

He loves to burst forward and get balls into the box - he created 19 key passes in his time in the Spanish topflight last season.

He's a better option than Jose Enrique, in my opinion, and it would allow Jon Flanagan to go back to the right of defence where he is better suited.

For me the move would be a good one.
