Forget Morata, Sign Benzema: Why Arsenal Should Be Moving For Real Madrid Striker After World Cup

For months now, Arsenal have been linked with young Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata. Reports today, however, suggest that the Gunners could miss out on his signature because of interest from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. I think that could be a blessing in disguise.

Morata is not the most capable of players - he scores a reasonable amount of goals but struggles to link up with his team-mates and very rarely takes a player on. His main assets are his ability in the air and his close-range finishing.

The Spaniard completed just 69% of his La Liga passes last season.

Instead, I would look to be signing Benzema, the man preventing Morata from starting more games at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema is a league above the 21-year-old, and although the France international is five years older, I think Benzema would come to life in the Premier League.

Playing in Ronaldo's shadow is not enough for him, in my eyes. Benzema scored 17 league goals last season, 24 in total, which is his fourth season in a row that he has hit 20 goals or more for Madrid.

He is one of the most impressive finishers in Europe and I think if Arsenal were to snap him up then it would go some way to making them title contenders.

I really hope we move for Balotelli, I really don't rate benzema... We already have giroud, benzema isn't much better than him. Balotelli has strength, pace, power and good finishing plus he's younger and cheaper. His attitude has also ol calmed recently.. he's probably the best striker we could buy and I think he has the potential to be one of the best in the world.

arsena made much comment on nor signing 7 players and how it doesnt work when talking about spuds last season .. he seems totaly incapable on keeping hold of or managing his current squad who seem to be rushing for the door ..sanga fabianski bendtner vermalen cazorla monreal vela .. hope you can count arsene . while your enjoying you busmans holiday our team is disintergrating before our eyes ..thats 7 players we need to replace right there.. thats before we fill other positions we didnt have covered last year like a proper striker .. who have we signed ? a bloody fitness coach .thats it .our rivals have done deals in the bag .. we cant attract the players we do want why ? because we are seen only as a second rate feeder club.. we could have signed balioteli last week for £20 million . now its going to be nearer £30million..arsene get your finger out of you arse stop playing pundit . you can do that when you retire ..

What is 'George Davis' talking about?

We could have signed Balotelli last week for £20m? Who said so? Did Milan tell you that George? You have access to the Milan board do you? Dick!

Vela is not "rushing for the door", we sold him a little while ago George. You may have noticed his name did not appear in last season's squad list. Dick!

Wenger is "totally incapable of keeping hold of his current squad" Sagna - too old and too slow. Fabianski- not good enough for the Arsenal 1st XI. Bendtner - not good enough for Hull. Vermaelen - not good enough for the Arsenal 1st XI. Monreal - not good enough for the Arsenal 1st XXII. Cazorla - we pay him a kimg's ransom, he ain't goin' anywhere! Vela - well, I've explained that to you already. Dick!

"Our rivals have done deals in the bag". Really? Other than Fabregas to Chelsea (they're welcome to him), what big name signings are you talking about? Dick!

From the press and blogs it seems Arsenal are looking to sign approximately 50% of the players from the top 5 teams in all leagues in Europe. These articles are perfect for dicks like you to get all worked up about.

Players don't always fit in at their next club- however well they've played at the selling club. Different playing styles, different manager, different cities all pose possible hurdles to players - and their families too sometimes when it comes to relocation. Some transfers are more risky than others, a good manager knows how to balance the risks. Balotelli definitely fits into the very talented but risky category. We'll see!
