Swap Rooney For Cavani? Why Manchester United Should Use England International As Makeweight To Land Flexible PSG Star

Rumours are trickling in that Manchester United have made a mammoth offer for Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani. However, I would like to see the Old Trafford board offer Wayne Rooney as a makeweight. Hear me out.

Cavani would offer us flexibility and is less of a diva than Rooney. While the England international whinged when deployed from the left, Cavani played an entire season on the right of attack last season, supporting Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the central role, and got on with his job admirably.

The Uruguayan scored 16 Ligue 1 goals last season and another four in the Champions League.

Manchester United have always been a side that play 4-4-2 with a rigid structure, but Louis van Gaal prefers 4-3-3.

The front three is so important to this as the wingers are expected to chip in defensively, close down opponents but then to spring forward and penetrate the space in behind players.

With Robin van Persie leading the line, I would have Adnan Januzaj on the left and Cavani on the right, with Juan Mata just in behind.

Should van Persie pick up an injury, Cavani can go central and one of Antonio Valencia, Shinji Kagawa or Ashley Young could fill in down the right.

United fans, would you swap Rooney for Cavani?

I would swap Rooney for Cavani tomorrow with no hesitation. Rooney is overpaid, overweight and overrated. He cries if things don't go his way and, amazingly, United have given in to him twice now. So get rid.
However, your logic fell to pieces and you left this planet when suggesting that Cavani, if playing inside due to injury to van Persie, should be supported by Young or Valencia. We have just improved the team by bringing in Cavani and you immediately want to lower it to beneath average by bringing in one of two other leas than average players in Young and Valencia. I would include Young with Rooney in the swap for Cavani, you never know, PSG might be stupid enough to take him.

I would approve it.. Infact offer rooney, young and anderson .. But the question is Cavani wants to play center fowd and again there is no place in center fowd line in Man u with RVP there.. he is not gonna be injured always.. second PSG are not stupid to allow the deal like this.. also i am sure apart from chelsea no other team wud want rooney.. His time is already over..

I was with you all the way until you mentioned ashley young and valencia. They should be sold and nani is still a better option than both attacking-wise.
