Arsenal: Sign De Jong, Move For Pogba And Look To Offload This Luxury Player

Some fans have questioned the mettle of the Arsenal midfield in recent months but the man they are being linked with, via today's Sun, would certainly toughen the midriff at the Emirates. Nigel De Jong is a notorious tough man and is said to be on the radar of Arsene Wenger.

As an Arsenal fan I would love to see him in the middle of our team. With him, Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini there would be a huge amount of bite, although not much of an aerial presence.

For that reason, I would probably look to shift Mikel Arteta and look to sign Paul Pogba, regardless of what they may need to spend to secure a deal with Juventus.

He is a real powerhouse but moves exceptionally well across the floor and can push forward up the field when needed, and I see Arteta as a bit of a luxury player.

The two would add a sublime balance to the side, with Aaron Ramsey doing the running and the likes of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla carving chances for the striker.

I don't think this is too unrealistic considering what the Gunners could potentially offer the pair in terms of Champions League football.

    Gunners, what do you think?

not a bad shout mate definatley backing arteta moving on he simply dosent cut it in the def-mid role we need strength and power in the middle and with de jong and pogba i think ul have the perfect balance for when we play the top guns so were not bullied by the likes of yaya toure fernandinho and matic at chelsea then let the flair players do there thing, but without a 25-30 goal a season striker we aint winning the league in my humble opinion! must be done.

Arsenal aren't signing Paul Pogba. Everyone and his brother want him and if Arsenal sign him, they wouldn't need de Jong. Why would Juventus, in the middle of a revival, sell? Not hat he wouldn't be amazing for the Gunners, it is just hard to imagine the Italians letting him go. For half the money, Arsenal could sign Javier Martinez who is nearly as goodand close to his prime. For half of that, the Gunners can sign Luis Gustavo and any of the three would immediately improve their standing as potential title winners.

Arteta might be past his prime, but he is extremely effective against all but the very best sides and adds stability on the field and in the dressing room. Arsenal's biggest problem this past season was squad size. The simply lacked the depth they needed to cope with injury and a 60 game season. Letting Arteta go, considering he'd fetch no more than 4 or 5 million, would be foolish when he is still so effective. On the contrary, Arsenal should sign him to a new 1 year deal if he'd agree to it.
