Chelsea Linked With £36m Midfielder: THREE Reasons Why Mourinho Should Look Elsewhere

According to reports, Chelsea are closing in on a £36m deal with Sami Khedira, who current Blues boss Jose Mourinho signed for Real Madrid back in 2010. Although he is a talented player, here are three reasons why I would forget about the Germany international and look elsewhere.

    1) Injury prone

The 27-year-old has made just 11 appearances this season due to injury, and he has a long history of being stuck to the medical table. The most recent was a ruptured cruciate ligament, but he has also had fractures, muscle damage, abdominal problems and ankle damage.

Though he is a talented player, there is a risk attached when buying an injury prone player. Especially at the price reported.

    2) Priorities

That money could go on a top quality centre-forward, the type who would win Chelsea the Premier League. With Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o, Chelsea were always going to fall flat at some point this season, and I would suggest they go after Diego Costa or Mario Mandzukic.

    3) Current crop

Chelsea have a range of players who can play in the central midfield role, including Nemanja Matic, David Luiz, John Obi Mikel, Ramires and Frank Lampard. Where would Khedira fit into the side?
