You Don't Need Him, Wenger: Why This Arsenal Target Should Be Signed As A Last Resort Only

The Premier League season has barely finished and already the rumour mill is in motion with plenty of big rumours flying around daily. Diego Costa and David Luiz are the big ones from the past couple of days with both set for a change of scenery.

With the World Cup less than a month away, clubs will want to get players in before their potential price boost at the big event. The rumour mill is set to go into overdrive over the next few of months so there will be plenty of stories to dissect.

The story I have picked out the black hole of rumours is the idea that Arsenal will make a bid for Angel Di Maria, the Real Madrid star. This has story has been broken by the Metro who claim that the Gunners will make a bid in the region of £32 million.

It's no surprise this story has reared its ugly head again as the Emirates outfit were hot on his tail last season but nothing ever came of it. With the arrival of Gareth Bale, his game time could be on the down which isn't right for a player of his abilities.

However, should Arsenal actually sign the Argentine, he should be considered as no more than a 'luxury' signing. Which means that we don't really need him but it would be great if he did join. Much like Cesc Fabregas which many people seem to not realise.

With Bacary Sagna, Lukasz Fabianski and possibly Thomas Vermaelen heading out the club then replacements must be the first thing Arsenal need to focus on. Serge Aurier is a name that has been linked with the north Londoners.

After Arsenal have done this, a defensive midfielder must be bought to accompany an ageing Mikel Arteta and even replace him. A striker should also be high on the list of priorities as the team need a huge improvement on Olivier Giroud to help them progress.

This places Di Maria quite low on the list of priorities so if Arsenal are really chasing a winger right now then he should be cheap but can still put in a shift. A luxury signing for short.
