THREE Reasons Why Arsenal Have Crumbled This Season

Arsenal went from Premier League leaders to a side struggling to hold onto fourth place. Here are three reasons their season has fallen apart.

    1) Injuries

Arsenal have had terrible luck with injuries this season. Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere were all ripped out of the side, while Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also missed large parts through injury.

Not forgetting Mesut Ozil, also. The German international ripped the Premier League apart when he first arrived but was run into the ground and was then injured.

    2) Wenger's reluctance to change

This breaks down into two parts. The Frenchman has not rotated and as a result has burnt his players out. Olivier Giroud has looked fatigued for months now and so have those in midfield. Wenger did it with Ozil, as I touched upon, and it has come back to bite them.

The other part is his naivety going into the big games. Arsenal conceded 20 goals away at Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton and Chelsea.

The fact that the Frenchman went into these games as he would against lesser opposition has hurt the Gunners.

    3) The pressure

The longer the wait for a trophy, the more pressure there will be to deliver one. The drought has got everyone talking, and when the north London side were top of the league, the pressure proved too much. The fans, the media and neutrals alike have a part to play in that.

Horrific Defending for me is the main concern.

Yes Arsenal have lost players because of injuries but mainly attacking ones. What has happened to their rock solid defense is beyond everyone. Koscileny and Mertesacker as a pair were on 31 game unbeaten run before they visited Anfield and since that drubbing, they have literally crumbled in defense.
