Includes Arsenal Defender: TWO Players Who Should Have Been Picked For PFA ‘Team Of The Year’

Last night Luis Suarez deservedly won Players Player of the Year, and Eden Hazard got Young Player of the Year, and both featured in the PFA team. But there were some strange omissions.

The PFA unveiled their team as follows: Cech, Coleman, Cahill, Kompany, Shaw, Lallana, Gerrard, Toure, Hazard, Sturridge and Suarez (In a 4-4-2 formation).

A strong team, yes, but there have been some outstanding performers who have been cruelly over-looked, and it is time they got the recognition they deserve.

Many Chelsea fans will argue that Captain John Terry should be in there instead of Cahill, but according to Squawka, the former Bolton man is superior where it counts.

He has won 68% of his duels whereas Terry has won 60%, and while Terry has made two defensive errors this season, Cahill’s record is spotless.

But Koscielny’s omission seems unjustified. He has been a rock at the back for Arsenal this season with two man of the match performances and a higher pass completion rate than Vincent Kompany.

A final change I would make in defence is Luke Shaw. I understand he is a great English talent, and yes he is having a great first season for Southampton, but for me Leighton Baines is the best left-back in England.

Squawka shows that Baines has a higher pass completion rate, wins more of his duels, has created 15 more chances for teammates and has five league goals this season.

The rest of the team pretty much picks itself, although if Aaron Ramsey had not been injured for three months he may have forced his way into the side.
