Manchester United Flop To Be Offered Route Out Of Old Trafford In £8m Deal - But Why?

Tom Cleverley was once considered one of the most exciting young central midfielders in the Manchester United set up, and was thought to be the future if the England national side. Now at 25, Cleverley has failed to reach anywhere near his potential, and is being touted with a move to Everton, in a deal worth £8m, according to reports.

Firstly, I would suggest the United board snap their hands off for that sort of money. Cleverley is one of the limpest midfielders in the Premier League and despite being able to pick a pass, his impact in the middle of the pitch is almost non-existent.

Cleverley has completed 90% of his passes this season from his 21 league appearances. He has made hardly any impact though, scoring once and not completing a single assist in that time.

He has made just 10 key passes, completed just five dribbles and has had 15 shots.

I'm not sure what Roberto Martinez sees in the England international. Gareth Barry and James McCarthy have been exceptional this season for the Toffees, though Barry will return to Manchester City in the summer.

Cleverley is nowhere near as able as Barry, but I am intrigued to see how he does away from Old Trafford.

United have almost ruined this kid,now they ask too much for him. He is valued by Roberto Martinez,so,as he is such a good judge of a player I reckon he could turn him around. There have been a few of their failures who have blossomed in the less hothouse atmosphere at Goodison and Finch Farm. Drop the asking price to a more reasonable level and I'm sure he'll move across.
