Wilshere Injury A Massive Set Back For Arsenal - Here's Why

Quite a few Arsenal fans looked on in disbelief at the sight of Jack Wilshere limping off the Wembley turf this week, following a challenge by Liverpool’s Daniel Agger. Arsenal confirmed the challenge will keep the England midfield whizz kid out of action for up to six weeks, which is a huge blow.

I’m sure Arsene Wenger must have been sitting there watching the friendly international hoping Wilshere would come through unscathed, in what was an experiment for the England manager Roy Hodgson. It was a chance to try out fringe players who are vying for places in England’s final 23 man squad for the World Cup this summer in Brazil, after all.

My argument is this, was Jack Wilshere really required in this ‘experimental’ England side?

With Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge also dead certainties for a place on the plane to Brazil, the likes of Adam Lallana (the best player on the pitch) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could have started the match.

The Football Association have already lined up a friendly against Peru at Wembley on May 30th, before a further two warm up games in Miami against Honduras and Ecuador.

The absence of Wilshere couldn’t come at a worse time for Arsenal, with Everton at home in the FA Cup this Saturday, before facing an uphill battle in the second leg against Bayern Munich next week.

On the bright side, Aaron Ramsey is ready to return to first team action which might, just might make Arsenal’s season.

By the way Wishere only has himself to blame for going into that tackle. Very non street wise. He should have shadow tackled with the oppo. coming in horizontal studs first (!)
Jack has great talent but ARSENAL do not miss him when injured. Who was MoM ? Cazorla (or Ozil) ? Santi is marginalised when Jack gets that central play making role. They need to be rotated. They do not work well together.

Totally agree. The poor lad will be forced to retire from injury by the age of 30!

    Arsenal should pinch Adam Lallana!
