David Moyes' Apology Letter As Funny As Manchester United's Shambolic Season

It is safe to say that David Moyes was probably expecting to do a little better in his first season at Manchester United. Instead, everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong, and United fans have returned to earth with a bit of a bump.

It would be churlish to list all the things that have made United's season one of their worst, but the signs were there at the beginning with Moyes overlooking a shambolic summer transfer window that culminated in the signing of Marouane Fellaini, who has been non-existent.

Following a grand show such as the one Sir Alex Ferguson put on during his Manchester United tenure was always going to be a very tricky task, but nobody quite expected that the reigning champions would be languishing in seventh place and 18 points off the top spot by early March. But that is the reality of it and for everybody who isn't a United fan this is, of course, one of the funniest things to have happened in recent memory.

Under Ferguson, United had a aura of invincibility. Now, however, they are amusingly brittle and ready to snap at any moment.

Moyes, bless him, has sent out a letter to United fans which also thanks them for their loyalty in what has been a testing season for the Scotsman. Admittedly, it is a nice gesture, and the fact that Moyes even has to send that letter shows not only how far United have fallen this season but also how much work the current squad needs.

In fact, United fans should be sending Moyes a thank you letter for doing his absolute best with a bunch of players who clearly don't want to play for him (we're looking at you Robin van Persie).
