Mourinho Would Be A Fool To Let Him Go: Chelsea Star To Decide Future

The Daily Star reports that Chelsea’s Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, will announce where his long-term future lies very soon. Chelsea fans should hope it lies at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has done a lot of growing up while on-loan at Atletico Madrid over the last three seasons and everyone wants to know where he will be for the foreseeable future.

The Belgian is already seen as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is well on his way to retaining his Ricardo Zamora goalkeeping award, having kept 16 clean sheets this season.

It is believed that he has narrowed his options down to two clubs, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. At 21, I believe he just wants constant football, not to be someone’s back-up.

Although Petr Cech is still at the top of his game and could be for another few years, I think Courtois is without a doubt the best option.

If Mourinho brings him back and shows enough faith in him to make him Chelsea’s number one, then they will have secured the best goalkeeper for the next ten years without question.

Making him part of a trade for hotshot Diego Costa would be a short-term move, to fix the immediate problem in Chelsea’s current squad.

Whereas keeping him could see him become a vital part of Chelsea’s spine for the next decade. The man is monster at 6,5 between the posts and Jose is a fool if he lets him stay in Madrid.
