Manchester United Linked With £15m Premier League Centre-Back, But What Could He Offer? Player Report

Under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino Southampton have made a name for themselves as a well organised, confident side who are difficult to break down. At the heart of that defensive mettle is Dejan Lovren, who joined the Hampshire side from Lyon. His performances have been so impressive that the Croatia international has been linked with a £15m move to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has been superb for the Saints this season. He has made 24 Premier League appearances and has averaged 8.3 clearances per outing. He has made 66 interceptions, 48 tackles and has also chipped in with two goals and an assist.

What stands out about Lovren is his ability on the ball. He is a composed player who always looks to pick a pass rather than lump the ball up top, and his calm nature spreads through the backline.

Nemanja Vidic is off to Inter in the summer at the end of the season and Rio Ferdinand could be out on his ear as his current deal is also up. Jonny Evans has dropped into the background and Phil Jones has a history with injury, so to get a solid centre-half it would be brilliant for the Red Devils and would begin what is likely to be a new dawn at United next season.
