70% Header Success: Manchester United Linked With Bundesliga Defender, But What Could He Offer Moyes' Men?

Reverse your mind to a few years back and there was one name on everyone's lips regarding the best centre-back in Europe. Forget Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United, it was Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund that was catching the eye with his dynamic displays. Although the German's displays have slipped over the last few years he's still rated as one of the best, and the Express fancy United to go in for him this summer - but only if they qualify for the Champions League.

So, I thought that I would look into his statistics from this season and give my verdict.

Dortmund are having a miserable season themselves this time round but Hummels himself has stood out as one of the strong players. When he has played that is.

In his 11 outings he has averaged nine defensive actions per game and won 70% of his 74 headers, while he has also completed 82% of his passes.

He is known for his composure on the ball and the way he can knock it about in the deck, and this season he has won 10 of his 12 attempted dribbles which gives him a take on success of 83%.

He's a wonderful player and is still only 25, which I believe is the perfect age for him to come in and boss the United backline.
