Liverpool Will Regret Missing Out On Former Barcelona Midfielder - Here's Why

While the January transfer window can rightly be seen as a frustrating one for Liverpool fans, they still have a squad capable of going on and claiming a top four place in my eyes.

With the free-flowing attacking unit doing the business so far this season and a with a creative wall just behind that to platform it on, Brendan Rodgers will be confident that they can go on and secure Champions League football at Anfield for next season.

However, I can't help but feel that their midfield needs a little touch up, as they only really have Lucas Leiva and Steven Gerrard in the deep positions. One man who I feel could've strengthened the middle of the Reds squad is former Barcelona anchorman Seydou Keita, who has revealed that he turned down a move to Merseyside in favour of a switch to Valencia last month.

For me that's a massive blow for the club and I firmly believe they will regret it. Joe Allen is still at the club but isn't a player you would like to rely on, and though Lucas is a solid player and can hold the fort while Gerrard bursts forward, he is quite injury prone and can't do everything himself.

He's also quite lightweight, so a big, powerful player such as Keita would have helped a lot in that sense. The Mali international is a vastly experienced player too, having played almost 600 club career games for the likes of Marseille, Lorient, Lens and Sevilla, as well as Barca and Chinese side Dalian.

Will they regret missing out on the 34-year-old? I think they could very well do.

Liverpool fans, what do you think?

Let's see how they would do with this kind of decision they made, maybe they're off to something. Hmmm..But I do agree, Keita could've been a great help and power for the team.
