Player Report: Arsenal Eye £10 million Striker, But What Could He Offer The Gunners?

It is being reported in the Metro that Michy Batshuayi is on Arsene Wenger’s radar for next season and Wenger is willing to spend £10 million on the Belgian Striker who has 35 goals in 83 appearances for Standard Liege. The forward has apparently been scouted by the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan to just name a few but Liege are yet to enter into negotiations with any club regarding his future.

But is Batshuayi any better than what is already at the Emirates?

I am of the opinion Arsenal need to show another signal of intent in the same way they did earlier in the season with the big deal that saw Mesut Ozil swap Madrid for London.

Mario Balotelli and Diego Costa are two names that keep coming up and the latter would be my choice. I am confident that signing another unproven quantity is not the way to go for Arsenal to continue the good progress they have made this season.

Olivier Giroud has been more reliable than most this season and was on the scoresheet twice against Sunderland on Saturday after being rested for the previous two games.

There is no argument, Arsenal still need another striker to take the weight off of Giroud and it still remains to be seen if Arsenal will regret not spending in January.

Arsenal should not sign another young forward, as they already have, and should give opportunities to, Afobe and Campbell next season. If they are to invest in another striker, it should be a big name, someone like Costa, Cavani or Falcao. I am not personally in favour of Balotelli.
