Not Luke Shaw: Manchester United Linked With Southampton Youngster - Player Report

Manchester United are a side who have a strong history of blooding youngsters - you only have to look at the class of 92 to see that. It seems that they might be after another, too, as The Mirror are linking them with a Southampton teen starlet. No, it's not Luke Shaw, it's Harrison Reed. Here's my brief report on the midfielder.

Type Of Player

Reed is a central midfielder who uses his energy and determination to burst around the middle of pitch. He never shies away from the ball and has impressed with his passing capacity. He's a strong player who likes to be amongst it.

History

Reed is the next through the door from the Southampton academy. He follows the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Luke Shaw and is tipped to be an almighty player in the English top tier.

This Season

He has made a substitute appearance for the first team but hasn't featured regularly. With Southampton's season looking as if there is now nothing to play for he may get a couple of run outs, but a loan move may be ideal to get him used to the tempo.

Verdict

It may be a little early for a move to Old Trafford and I think Southampton is probably the best place for him to progress.
