Chelsea Linked To Real Madrid Star, But Here's Why Mourinho Should Forget Moving For Him

It's commonplace for a manager to go in for players who they have previously worked with as they know exactly what they are about. It could be happening again this summer as the Express are hinting at a Chelsea move for Real Madrid's Sami Khedira - a player who Jose Mourinho worked with while in charge of the Spanish outfit. However, it's a move that I am unsure about for a couple of reasons.

The first one is the competition already at the club. Chelsea brought in Nemanja Matic in the January window and the Serbia international has already played his part in hoisting the Blues to the top of the Premier League. They also have John Obi Mikel and Ramires, as well as Frank Lampard, though the latter is out of contract in the summer.

The second is the lack of pace. Chelsea are a side who look to hit teams on the counter, but with Khedira's lack of agility that could be a problem. It proved to be on occasions in La Liga as his range of passing isn't the most impressive.

The last reason I want to touch upon is the fact he is almost 27. I would rather the club brought in some younger players to control the middle of the park as they bring energy and a vigour that the older player struggle to.
