LIVERPOOL: A Closer Look At How Steven Gerrard Bossed The Fulham Game

With Chelsea dropping points to West Brom the evening before and Manchester City's game with Sunderland being called off due to the weather, Liverpool had a chance to gain some ground on those situated in the top four and more importantly secure their place in it. Arsenal also dropped points at home to Manchester United, although Brendan Rodgers' men will not have known that at the time, and Liverpool pounced on that with a 3-2 away win at Fulham.

It didn't all go their way though. The Reds fell behind after just eight minutes due to a Kolo Toure own goal, but thanks to Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho they drew level after Kieran Richardson had scored for the Cottagers.

It wasn't until the final minute that Liverpool won the game though, with Steven Gerrard converting a last gasp penalty. The goal, for me, crowned a marvellous all-round display.

Gerrard completed 63 of his 73 passes during the game and completed three tackles. He also won two of his three headed duels and had a 100% take on success, and looked thoroughly impressive down in the capital.

The goal not only sparked the discussion as to whether or not Liverpool can still win the title, but it also confirmed that Gerrard can still dictate games in the topflight.
