Where Would £22.5m Defender Fit In At Manchester United?

With Patrice Evra's contract running out in the summer, and Alex Buttner not impressing many people when  given the chance in the first team, it comes as no surprise that the Mirror say Manchester United have put in a £22.5m bid for Southampton left-back Luke Shaw. Considered the long term successor to Ashley Cole at boyhood club Chelsea by many, a deal taking him to Old Trafford could continue David Moyes' attempts at reshaping his United side, but how would he fit in at the reigning Champions?

First of all, it looks very unlikely that United will be picking up the Premier League trophy at the end of the season, and I think the United fans have started to accept that, on the whole.

As a result of that, I would start building the club with youth players.

Moyes has already shown he's not afraid of giving the youngsters a chance - Adnan Januzaj has flourished this season, so a move for Shaw could be perfect.

He's a left-back who excels when bursting up the pitch and someone who could benefit the wide players. He is the type of defender who likes to knock it inside and run into space, and his delivery into the box is another major asset he holds.

For me, Shaw is the perfect acquisition and would show that Moyes really means business.
