100% Win Record: Why Moyes Was Wrong Not To Sign Former Arsenal Midfielder

You'd think that if Manchester United were offered Alex Song this month - a player who has played over 200 games for Arsenal, has two seasons at Barcelona and a host of trophies in his cabinet - that David Moyes would snap their hands off. Especially as United's midfield looks about as strong as Adnan Januzaj. However, the Telegraph are reporting that senior figures at the club have ruled out a move for the Cameroon international. The reasons why, I am not sure. But I am sure they should've made a move for him.

Song has proved himself at the very top of club football. He played 20 league games for Barcelona and won 18 of those, drawing the other two - that alone tells you how effective he is. He accrued a pass completion of 93% and held their midfield together while Xavi, Iniesta and Lionel Messi did their thing.

This season he has made 10 La Liga appearances, and again Barcelona haven't lost a single one of those. In fact this season he has a 100% win record in the league. He has a pass completion rate of 90%, a shot accuracy of 100% and is criminally undervalued in my eyes.

United are crying out for a central player who can create, but they also need a winner in their side who can keep things going in the middle. Michael Carrick can do such a thing, but with injuries and slack form recently he hasn't really impressed.

For me Moyes was wrong to pass up the opportunity in signing him, if it did happen like the reports suggest.
