THREE Reasons Why Manchester United Will Miss Out On The Top 4 This Season

After 22 Premier League games, Manchester United sit in seventh place, 14 points behind leaders Arsenal and six adrift of fourth placed Liverpool. Some say that their surge up the table will come soon, but here are three reasons why I think they will miss out of the top four this term.

    1) Midfield

This is the standout problem for me - Manchester United's midfield looks incredibly weak.

They have Michael Carrick, who is one of the most established passers in the English top tier, and they have a big, strong aerial presence in Marouane Fellaini, but while the latter fails to live up to his reputation David Moyes has just Tom Cleverley and Darren Fletcher as other options, I feel as though they will continue to get run over.

Phil Jones has filled in at times, but they need a creative player to connect the midfield to attack.

    2) Competition

For me, there are four better sides in the league this year. Yes United won it last year, but there is something severely lacking in that squad right now. Whether that is down to Sir Alex Ferguson leaving, or the fact Moyes has come in I'm not sure, but I think Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool will finish in the top four.

City and Chelsea have had managerial changes, and Liverpool are finally seeing just how effective Brendan Rodgers can be, while United's change at the top has so far flopped.

    3) Pressure

There seems to be an agenda against those at Old Trafford this season, with fans and media alike almost willing United to fail. After every defeat Moyes and his players are scrutinised, and I feel as though if that continues it'll only make things harder for the club's title bid.
