Mourinho Backs Hazard To Become One Of The Best, But Can The Playmaker Live Up To The Billing?

When Eden Hazard signed for Chelsea back in 2012 only a few spectators could have enviasaged just what an impact he would have on the club. He arrived as a player full of potential, along with his brother Thorgan, and took no time to settle into the club. After a season and a half at Stamford Bridge, Hazard has made some big impressions, and current manager Jose Mourinho says that the 23-year-old can now become one of the best players in the world.

The Portuguese boss says that the little Belgian has had a revelation of late and sees things in a different way, something that will allow him to  take that step to the next bracket of wonderful players.

Mourinho said in the Evening Standard: “Eden can become one of the best players in the world. Now he sees his football and profession with different eyes.

“He understood how there is a gap between the talent and the performance and a gap between the occasional performance and the permanent stability at a high level. He now understands how he can fill this gap.”

I for one am expecting the same results as Mourinho, as I have witnessed his progression from my season ticket seat at Stamford Bridge.

Last season Hazard made 65 key passes and scored nine Premier League goals in his 34 appearances, but this season he has upped his effectiveness massively, already matching his goals tally and creating 50 chances in his 21 games.

He has won almost 60% of his 128 takes ons as well, which shows you how high his confidence is right now.

There is no reason why he cannot progress into that top bracket, and I genuinely hope he does that at his current club.
