Arsenal Watching Young Centre-Back - Player Report

Signing players from lower leagues than the Premier League can stir mixed emotions with fans of the top tier team.

They jump to the conclusion that they won't be able to make the same impact should they jump up a division as the quality is a massive step up and they would rather sign proven stars.

Arsenal have been linked with Nottingham Forest centre-back Jamaal Lascelles this week, by the Mirror, and I can tell you first hand, as a Nottingham Forest season ticket holder, that you would be inheriting one hell of a player.

The 20-year-old has made six Championship appearances for the Reds this season and for me has been our standout player. Perhaps behind Reid, but for this article I will go with the young defender.

He is an agile player who loves the ball at his feet but he's not scared of getting stuck in - much like Rio Ferdinand in his early days.

He's strong in the air and can pick a pass and has impressed massively with the way he makes snappy decisions. He's quick, he's determined and has represented England at all youth levels, so Arsenal fans before turning your noses up please get to know about the player.

Also think about what Arsene Wenger has managed with young players in the past.
